YES, we are still alive and NO, baby has still not come yet, but I wanted to let you know that baby is the reason for the blog silence. Simple tasks have gotten quite difficult for me in the last weeks of my pregnancy, one of those being fitting behind the computer. We are soooo super stoked to meet our son, the suspense is killing me! We can’t wait to introduce him to all of you when he arrives and you can be sure that he will be a very well photographed little guy.

There will be many more engagement and weddings to come in this new year and we are currently booking for 2011 as well. We would love to work with you, so give us a ring or drop us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Just a few details regarding this amazing wedding -

Location: L’Aberge Del Mar – a beautiful venue and the staff there was some of the best we have worked with.

Her dress – Was exquisite and was designed by her VERY talented sister, Jenna. AMAZING work Jenna!!!

Her shoes – These Hey Lady shoes were fabulous – a gorgeous design and made to be comfortable all day long.  Check em’ out ladies – they are SO worth it!!!

Hair was done by Brie at the XOXO salon in Solana Beach. Seriously LOVED her hair! The style fit Erica’s class so perfectly.

Bridesmaid dresses were Vera Wang. Not only were they gorgeous and comfy (or so said the girls), but they had pockets too! So practical!

Men’s suits – Brooks Brothers. They all looked so sharp as if they stepped out of the catalog.

They had a photobooth that was SOOO much fun and we hope to post some pictures on that later on as well.

Ok, now onto the good stuff. We shot this wedding this past weekend and had the most AMAZING time. The Little family have become dear friends of ours since moving to San Diego and it was a complete blessing and honor to capture this day for them. Erica was literally one of the most beautiful brides I had ever seen. She was glowing with joy and love and pure beauty. The entire wedding was planned out perfectly thanks to the talents of Erica’s sisters – Jenna and Allison (yes, THE awesome and wonderful friend of mine, Allison Miller who has also second shot for me on several occasions and is very talented.) I will write more of this wedding later as there is so much to tell, but for now, I just could not resist posting some teaser shots. Yes, we are wedding photographers and we LOVE weddings and that is the majority of what we do, however every once in a while we do make time for family portrait sessions. We do this because we believe in the importance family and the beauty of family. I, Emily, had the privilege of capturing so many beautiful families this year and have chosen a couple of my favorites from this fall that I have included below.

As you can tell from today’s blog title, we are going to talk about us. Yup, we love to talk about you you you usually, but occasionally…(if you listen to country music you should get that – if not, just move on!).  Ok, back to the point. Today we get out from behind the camera. Nothing to hide behind. All eyes on us. We’re gonna get in front of the camera and see what it feels like to have two dark barrels of pretty Canon cameras hunting us down.  So…to accompany these new photos of us, we’re also going to share our top 10 list of things that we think you might not know about us. Here it goes.

Emily says about Brett:
1) Brett has a very funny sense of humor that most people don’t catch onto until their third time hanging with him. 2) He loves the outdoors, especially downhill skiing and mountain biking 3) He is one of the most dedicated workers I have ever met, he puts his heart and soul into everything he is passionate about 4) He loves gear of any kind, whether it is for the outdoors or for photography-in fact, researching the gear for me for photography is what perked his initial interest in shooting with me 5) Brett is a huge Dave Ramsey fan – he loves to crunch numbers and help people get out of debt. 6) Brett doesn’t really show a lot of expression even though on the inside he is bursting with joy. 7) He grew up introverted, became an extrovert, and is becoming an introvert again As much as Brett wants to dance, he is a white boy with two left feet and no rhythm 9)Brett is Canadian and proud of it! 10) He loves pie, especially Strawberry-rhubarb!

Brett says about Emily:
1) Emily loves to be in front of the camera. 2) That’s how this all started for us. She wasn’t thrilled with our wedding photos and decided to do something about it for others getting married. 3) Emily grew up in the Czech Republic as a missionary kid and is still fluent in Czech (ask to hear the Czech tongue twister and prepare to be amazed!). 4) Em couldn’t cook when we got married. Now she is cheffin’ it up! 5) She freaks out for holidays and special occasions – she just can’t get enough of them. 6) She loves Ranch dressing entirely too much. 7) She learned to drive on a stick shift car in Europe – but won’t tackle driving my 5 speed Jetta. Em is a super fast reader. She can (and does) read circles around me. 9) She only likes sweet white wine. No Merlot for her! 10) Em gave up working in the Hollywood industry to become a photographer. No more movie junkets or meeting celebrities. And no regrets – she loves what she does!

Note: this is NOT a maternity shoot, I just happen to be pregnant. Maternity pictures are coming, I promise.

During our down time, the family got acquainted with our growing baby boy with lots of touching of the belly.  I love being pregnant! 

So now, it is the year 2010!!! OH my gosh! As Brett and I prepared to toast into the New Year last night, we realized that this was the last New Years that we would bring in without kids. Really crazy thought, but joyful at the same time.

We are truly so blessed. So much has happened in this year that we will never forget . We have had an amazing year with awesome clients, great shoots, great locations, great memories and the honor of capturing your love stories. Thank you to all of you who have made our year so precious to us. We hope to see more of you in the New Year, but more importantly we wish you a year of blessings, amazing experiences and much love.

I wanted to share with you one last post before Christmas.  Many of you know that Brett holds down a day job at the University of San Diego and I’ve always wanted to do a photo shoot there.  Thanks to Saifa and Linda, we got that chance a couple of weeks ago under an ominous cloud of ‘almost’ rain..  We are looking forward to photographing their wedding day in May. But until then, we hope to see you guys at the donut shop and maybe out mountain biking – ok, I’ll leave that last part to Brett and Saifa.

Ok, back to today being Monday. There is a fresh feeling in the air today now that all of the San Diego rain has stopped and the sun is shining again. We’re back to the routine of Brett leaving for his day job, working at the University of San Diego, and our dog Teryx curling up at my feet while I settle in to edit recent photos of some amazing people!  Jeff and Hannah are one such couple. They met while working at BJ’s and it was love at first sight. Isn’t that sweet??? They are getting married in May and their wedding is going to be to DIE for!!! We really enjoyed spending some time with them in Pasadena. Pasadena holds a dear place in our hearts – yup, that is where Brett and I met and the sparks started to fly!

So here is to Pasadena, Love, and Jeff and Hannah…

What is backwards Friday, you may ask?  It’s when I post an engagement shoot after I posted the wedding for the same couple! Blame it on pregnancy brain – I am!

Ryan and Ayumi met at UC Riverside – so that’s where we met them for their engagement shoot.  Not only was it nice to get to know this amazing couple during their engagement shoot – but it was nice to have an afternoon of warm weather. We have so much fun exploring new locations with cool people like the Chu’s!

As I write this, baby boy says hi to all you in internetland…He is definitely really active today and I love to feel him moving around!

Enough about us. As I promised, here is more from Ryan and Ayumi’s super fun wedding!

Ryan and Ayumi are an adorable couple who are so very sweet and kindhearted. They were such a pleasure to work with. And what a gorgeous day it was in La Jolla. Every detail came together perfectly. Their wedding was seriously uber fun with so much laughter, a photobooth and great games and dancing. They did not have a wedding party and they really wanted a lot of time for their own portraits so of course they opted to see each other before the Ceremony – which works really well particularly this time of year when the sun sets so early (winter brides – be sure to factor this in when booking your venue!).

Thank you Ryan and Ayumi! We will definitely look you up the next time we are in Orange County and say “hi”. You guys are awesome!
