Hi Everybody!

Today we are very excited to share with you that we have grown, re-branded, and birthed a new identity! We present to you the new us: Brett & Emily Photographers!

Truth be told, we’ve really been Brett & Emily Photographers for a long time – it’s just taken us a while to get our branding to catch up to us! We’re now going to skip over filling this page with a bunch of words about our journey and get to the good stuff. Check out the new digs over at www.brettandemilyphoto.com.

We’d like to to take a quick second to thank our clients who have entrusted us to capture their special moments over these past 4 years. You are our inspiration and it has been our honor to be a part of your lives. We’re excited for a new year and for the new friends we’ll make along the way.

This will be our last blog post at this address and we encourage you to change your bookmarks, subscriptions, and RSS to get feed from our new site. This site will be up for a while – but nothing new will be posted here again. Ever. So join us at our new home where all the new activity will be happening!

Mike & Lindsay. Engagment & Wedding Sneak Peak

Happy rainy Monday everyone! We have been working like crazy this month not only because we started the year off with two fabulous weddings in January, but also because we’ve been working on lots of side projects. Re-branding has been a major project and we can’t wait to unveil our new brand REALLY Really soon. We are so excited to have our ‘brand’ catch up to us! We’ve also excitedly been preparing for the Bridal Bazaar this upcoming weekend (where we met so many wonderful couples that we got to work with last year) as well as some other fun side projects. All that so say, we’re not going to write much today. Enjoy these engagement photos of Mike and Lindsay from earlier this year. And when you make it to the bottom, you’ll get a sneak peak of Lindsay looking radiant from their wedding a couple days ago. Enjoy!

Rich & Ashley’s Estancia La Jolla Wedding

I know it is only a couple of weeks into January, but this last Saturday we jump-started our wedding year early with the dynamic duo, Nate and Kimber. Their wedding was off-the-hook fabulous and you will definitely see them on our blog again, so remember their names. Sunday, we got to have a nice family day of rest, which helps us come to you today refreshed and excited to share with you these modern romantics – Rich and Ashley.

Where do we even begin to tell you about the sincere awesomeness of this couple? Rich and Ashley are genuine. In the two hours we spent with them during their engagement shoot, we knew we had made friends for life. They are caring. They are thoughtful. They are very well-traveled. They love each other with a pure love. Their wedding day was a perfect reflection of their unique character. There was emotion, a wonderful sense of peace and joy, beauty, and of course there was lots of love.

Rich and Ashley, thank you for inviting us to be a part of your special day! To know you is a gift for us. We loved spending this time with you and look forward to a coffee date soon!

We are thrilled to get to work with several people that were former colleagues of Brett’s from his old job. Jennifer is one of those amazing people! We loved spending time with her and Nick in downtown San Diego. There is just something we love about hanging out and talking with couples like Nick and Jennifer and walking away thinking ‘wow, they are super sweet, kind, and thoughtful’. I tell you, we get to work with a ton of quality people and that makes our job so fulfilling.

Speaking of Brett’s former job – last week marked his first year anniversary as being a fully self employed photographer with me. It’s been an amazing year working together and sharing the wonderful journeys of our 2011 couples and we are so excited for our 2012 weddings which will kick off this weekend with Nate and Kimber. We’re so excited for this year!

Happy New Year everyone! I know it has been a long time since we have blogged, so we thought what would be a better way to start the new year than to get back on the blog wagon?! We had an incredibly busy December where we we slept in our own beds very few nights and thoroughly enjoyed our travels to Redding, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, and Christmas with Brett’s family in Canada. We played in the snow, ate lots of yummy food, I practiced my crocheting (a new hobby I picked up during the holidays) and enjoyed watching North open his presents and play with his uncles. We were definitely ready to come home when it was time and get back to somewhat of a normal routine. And here we are. We have a special treat for you to start of the New Year – Tony and Korrin.

Korrin and Tony live in Las Vegas, but are getting married in San Diego and wanted the classic look of Korrin’s home town. We could not be more excited to capture this wedding as these two are absolutely a blast to hang out with. Talk about a sense of humor! Not to mention they are a very sweet and beautiful couple. Win, win!

Ernesto & Christen: A Junipero Serra Museum Wedding.

Happy post-Thanksgiving Monday everyone! We hope you had a great time celebrating with friends and family as we did. Like countless others, we braved the traffic to be with Emily’s family in Fresno, then continued on to our old stomping grounds in Redding, CA. We love coming back up here filling our time visiting with old friends and squeezing in a ton of photo shoots for some great family’s. At the end of the week we’ll continue on to Lake Tahoe to celebrate and capture Greg and Maegen’s wedding – it’s gonna be rad! But today we want to share the awesome wedding of Ernesto and Christen at the Junipero Serra Museum. From the small ceremony to the reception at Solarie restaurant, we loved the intimate feeling of their wedding. Christen did a fabulous job creating such a natural feel, from the flowers to the different styles and colors of dresses for her bridesmaids. Christen and Ernesto chose to do a ‘First Look” which gave us tons of fabulous photo time at USD. We had so much fun exploring the campus with them!

Ernesto and Christen, thank you so much for inviting us along on your special day and for welcoming us warmly into your family and friends for dinner. We had so much fun with the both of you and we wish you an amazing marriage and life together! Enjoy!

Dev & Aiko. Married at La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art

We hope you enjoyed a little break from weddings the past couple of weeks – especially with the adorable photos of North we posted on Monday! As for us, we are looking forward to a little break ourselves. We hit the end of our marathon of weddings that have kept us busy capturing so many amazing couples every weekend since June. As a reward for having made it through this whirlwind of a season Brett will be helping a friend shoot a wedding on Saturday (apparently in the rain) and Emily will be running a half marathon on Sunday. Ahhh, there’s nothing quite like a weekend off!

A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of photographing Dev and Aiko’s wedding. Not only did we love this wedding because these two top the charts as two of the sweetest people we know, but we also LOVED their taste for modern and funky architecture! You might remember their engagement shoot at the retro concrete space station otherwise known as the UCSD library – if not, you’ll want to check it out here. This theme of cool architecture was carried into their wedding at the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary art. If you are local, you might recognize it by a myriad of canoes suspended in the sky! Cutest Kid on the Planet Award…

And the award goes to. . . North!!! Ok, we might have just a LITTLE bit of a bias and we’re sure that all you other parents are uber cute kids too (and have an equal bias towards your kids). We just had to share these cute images of North that Emily took at the park last week! As you’ll see he’s the happiest when he has as many trains or cars as he can hold and takes them everywhere! We just love this little guy so freaking much! Enjoy!

It’s Family Photo Time!

Today we are announcing limited availability for family photo sessions in November. This year we are offering mini sessions starting at only $200! Family photos are great not only for decorating your home, but also for Christmas and Holiday cards!

Availability is limited to only 8 sessions in San Diego this year as our calendar has nearly filled up. Redding readers – we can fit in a couple more sessions while we are there the week after Thanksgiving for you as well!

Contact us if you are interested in getting your family photos and we will send you our complete family session packages. And since we are announcing our mini session special today, it’s a good time to take a break from wedding and engagement photo and share just a few images from our recent family photo sessions. Today I’m not sure my eyes are working correctly. The calendar says that there is only a week left in October! Can this be true? What a whirlwind it has been!!! We’ve had a blast with all of our October weddings and had the privilege to photograph some really cool couples. Seriously, we love that we get to work with such kind, caring, and sweet couples who are madly in love. We are so thankful to get to do what we do!!! We will eventually get as many of them up on the blog as we can, but in the meantime, check out Ernesto and Christen and Dev & Aiko‘s teaser images from a couple recent weddings on our Facebook page.

Today we are sharing with you a wedding that we thoroughly enjoyed back in August. Jeff and Krista became instant favorites during their engagement shoot as they were up for anything and got creative with us and they kept us laughing the whole time. It was a blast! Their wedding was no different. We loved that they infused their personalities into the wedding with things like their choice of rock music at the wedding/reception and the skull cake toppers. We also loved that they were up for a wide variety of locations ranging from one of the top 10 beaches in the country (Coronado) to alleys, to the loading docks of their hotel. Jeff and Krista – thanks for inviting us to share you special day with you. We love you and hope to hang out again soon. Enjoy!
