Rich & Ashley’s Estancia La Jolla Wedding

I know it is only a couple of weeks into January, but this last Saturday we jump-started our wedding year early with the dynamic duo, Nate and Kimber. Their wedding was off-the-hook fabulous and you will definitely see them on our blog again, so remember their names. Sunday, we got to have a nice family day of rest, which helps us come to you today refreshed and excited to share with you these modern romantics – Rich and Ashley.

Where do we even begin to tell you about the sincere awesomeness of this couple? Rich and Ashley are genuine. In the two hours we spent with them during their engagement shoot, we knew we had made friends for life. They are caring. They are thoughtful. They are very well-traveled. They love each other with a pure love. Their wedding day was a perfect reflection of their unique character. There was emotion, a wonderful sense of peace and joy, beauty, and of course there was lots of love.

Rich and Ashley, thank you for inviting us to be a part of your special day! To know you is a gift for us. We loved spending this time with you and look forward to a coffee date soon!

Ernesto & Christen: A Junipero Serra Museum Wedding.

Happy post-Thanksgiving Monday everyone! We hope you had a great time celebrating with friends and family as we did. Like countless others, we braved the traffic to be with Emily’s family in Fresno, then continued on to our old stomping grounds in Redding, CA. We love coming back up here filling our time visiting with old friends and squeezing in a ton of photo shoots for some great family’s. At the end of the week we’ll continue on to Lake Tahoe to celebrate and capture Greg and Maegen’s wedding – it’s gonna be rad! But today we want to share the awesome wedding of Ernesto and Christen at the Junipero Serra Museum. From the small ceremony to the reception at Solarie restaurant, we loved the intimate feeling of their wedding. Christen did a fabulous job creating such a natural feel, from the flowers to the different styles and colors of dresses for her bridesmaids. Christen and Ernesto chose to do a ‘First Look” which gave us tons of fabulous photo time at USD. We had so much fun exploring the campus with them!

Ernesto and Christen, thank you so much for inviting us along on your special day and for welcoming us warmly into your family and friends for dinner. We had so much fun with the both of you and we wish you an amazing marriage and life together! Enjoy!

We hope you enjoyed a little break from weddings the past couple of weeks – especially with the adorable photos of North we posted on Monday! As for us, we are looking forward to a little break ourselves. We hit the end of our marathon of weddings that have kept us busy capturing so many amazing couples every weekend since June. As a reward for having made it through this whirlwind of a season Brett will be helping a friend shoot a wedding on Saturday (apparently in the rain) and Emily will be running a half marathon on Sunday. Ahhh, there’s nothing quite like a weekend off!

A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of photographing Dev and Aiko’s wedding. Not only did we love this wedding because these two top the charts as two of the sweetest people we know, but we also LOVED their taste for modern and funky architecture! You might remember their engagement shoot at the retro concrete space station otherwise known as the UCSD library – if not, you’ll want to check it out here. This theme of cool architecture was carried into their wedding at the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary art. If you are local, you might recognize it by a myriad of canoes suspended in the sky! Today I’m not sure my eyes are working correctly. The calendar says that there is only a week left in October! Can this be true? What a whirlwind it has been!!! We’ve had a blast with all of our October weddings and had the privilege to photograph some really cool couples. Seriously, we love that we get to work with such kind, caring, and sweet couples who are madly in love. We are so thankful to get to do what we do!!! We will eventually get as many of them up on the blog as we can, but in the meantime, check out Ernesto and Christen and Dev & Aiko‘s teaser images from a couple recent weddings on our Facebook page.

Today we are sharing with you a wedding that we thoroughly enjoyed back in August. Jeff and Krista became instant favorites during their engagement shoot as they were up for anything and got creative with us and they kept us laughing the whole time. It was a blast! Their wedding was no different. We loved that they infused their personalities into the wedding with things like their choice of rock music at the wedding/reception and the skull cake toppers. We also loved that they were up for a wide variety of locations ranging from one of the top 10 beaches in the country (Coronado) to alleys, to the loading docks of their hotel. It’s Monday afternoon after another long double-header weekend (double header = 2 back to back weddings) and we figured that it’s been another two week gap between blog posts so we should get another one up today. Truth be told, we actually don’t mind the double header weekends and we actually feel really good both days. It’s the day after that we crash and are thankful that we don’t do triple headers. With all the shooting we’ve been doing lately, we’ll have plenty of blog material to share with you even when our busy schedule (kinda) slows down and we can devote more time to blogging. So, we’re not sharing a ton of personal stuff on the blog now either, but hey, that’s what Facebook is for! If we’re not friends yet, ‘friend request’ us or ‘like’ our company page to keep up with us as people – we’d love to do the same with you!

Today we are sharing a few images from Brent and Brittany’s San Diego wedding. We say ‘San Diego’ literally as we covered a lot of ground throughout the city that day! We fell in love with Brent and Brittany when we photographed their engagement session a while back. Needless to say, we were looking forward to celebrating their wedding day with them! So I feel like we start every blog post by saying just how lucky we are to have the fantastic ~~clients~~ friends we do. Shane and Karyn are no exception. They are just lovable. Here are just a couple of the things we loved about their wedding. Where should we start? How about the football game of Shane’s bachelor party where he broke his ankle, showed up to the wedding on crutches which he hobbled around on most of the day, yet when asked how we was doing he would give a huge grin and say, “I’m a lucky man. Have you seen my bride?” Not only did Karyn look stunning after doing her own make up and hair (which few can pull off!), but her dedication to the decor of the day was evident. We wonder just how many trips to Goodwill did she take to obtain the hundreds of rad books with unique and fun titles to serve as part of the table centerpieces? Maybe it was the combination of Calumet Park and the Darlington House that we really liked? And it was most certainly watching these two love each other like crazy – yup, we dig that for sure! Shane and Karyn, thanks for having us share this special day with you and we look forward to seeing you soon for more quality time together!

Happy Monday morning everyone! We had an action packed weekend shooting 2 weddings, a baby shower for our great friend and fellow photographer Ariel, hung out with some of our favorite photographer friends and visited with some of our dear friends from Redding who were in San Diego for the weekend. What a great and fulfilling weekend!

Kevin and Elena are one of those couples that are genuinely awesome. We knew from their engagement session that we were gonna have a blast shooting their wedding! And we were right. Not only did they look amazing, have cute and well thought out details, but their love and kindness towards each other, their guests and vendors was something to be admired. Matt & Lauren. An Intimate Backyard Wedding.

It was love at first sight. Yup, we loved Matt and Lauren the very instant we met them well over a year ago when we grabbed coffee and talked about their wedding, life, love, etc. We walked away from that meeting praying that they’d pick us as their wedding photographers because we couldn’t imagine not capturing the special day of our new friends. As all proper relationships, our love grew with them over time. For their engagement shoot, they showed up with just the cutest props that perfectly fit the railroad travel theme of their engagement session. (click here to see it). Yeah we totally loved that. Then Lauren, who is a graphic designer helped us clean up our homemade logo. What a sweetheart! (and you can connect with her here). And if that weren’t enough, she designed the cutest wedding details for us to take photos of. Yup, more loving. You’ll probably notice more than our average amount of detail photos in this post just because Lauren and Matt did such a fantastic job with them we thought we’d show them off a bit. We loved their creativity and craftiness!

The only bummer part of their wedding is that we can’t keep looking forward to it! But hey – that’s what we’re here for – to help our amazing clients remember their special day. Dan & Michaela. A Fallbrook Backyard Wedding.

Hello August! Seriously, how did you creep up on so so quickly? It was so unusual for us to to enter a week yesterday fully rested and recharged like we are today! Now that is the joy of shooting a wedding on Friday – we felt like normal people with a weekend off!!! Speaking of our Friday wedding, we had a fabulous time with Kevin and Elena. Congratulations on your marriage – we love you two! Check out a few of the teaser images we posted on our Facebook Page!

People often ask us what our favorite wedding venue is to shoot – and we always tell them that we LOVE backyard weddings! It’s true. There is something very peaceful and intimate about this kind of setting. Today we are sharing Dan and Michaela’s backyard wedding that took place at a relatives house in Fallbrook on a very hot day! Now we will be the first to admit that our thin Redding blood has thickened up a bit to adapt to the cooler San Diego climate (you’d think that a place 12 hours north would be cooler, eh? It’s the exact opposite!). Anyways, all that to say that we were all sweating buckets all day long. But it was worth spending a fantabulous day celebrating with Dan and Michaela after looking forward to their wedding for quite some time. This wedding had so much thought put into every detail. They had an international travel theme and everything was so precisely incorporated. Dan and Michaela are one of the most humble and genuine couples you will ever meet. It was very important to them that their guests were comfortable and have a great time. They are such servants at heart and this was evident especially during the ceremony where they served all of their guests communion. Another great attribute that this couple has is their great musical talent. One thing that was a must for Dan is having a jam session at their reception. They invited their guests to bring any musical instruments they have and can play and join in on the fun. It made for a great end to the night.

We are not sure if Dan was joking or just didn’t know he was pointing the knife at his bride, but it’s a funny shot!

This was a taken during a slideshow that Dan surprised Michaela with while he played a piano piece he wrote just for her!

And we LOVED the jam-session that Dan lead during the reception .This was a first for us! Just rad!
