It’s Family Photo Time!

Today we are announcing limited availability for family photo sessions in November. This year we are offering mini sessions starting at only $200! Family photos are great not only for decorating your home, but also for Christmas and Holiday cards!

Availability is limited to only 8 sessions in San Diego this year as our calendar has nearly filled up. Redding readers – we can fit in a couple more sessions while we are there the week after Thanksgiving for you as well!

Contact us if you are interested in getting your family photos and we will send you our complete family session packages. And since we are announcing our mini session special today, it’s a good time to take a break from wedding and engagement photo and share just a few images from our recent family photo sessions. Wow – what a great weekend! Both Friday and Saturday we shot awesome weddings! Thanks to Matt and Kristi and Dan and Michaela for sharing your special days with us. We totally crashed on Sunday and chased North around the pool for a couple of hours which made for a much needed day off. As an added bonus, July faithfully welcomed summer weather and June Gloom 2011 is a thing of the past! Hooray!!!!

We thought today would be a great opportunity to share with you, our friends at Taylored Beauty. Kristy and Stacy are a dynamic twin duo specializing in hair and makeup. I was honored and excited to shoot their portraits for their portfolio. They are seriously so much fun and look at them – they are gorgeous!!! They completely know their stuff in hair, make-up and style. I am very picky when it comes to my hair and when I discovered these two my long search for the perfect hair stylist in San Diego finally ended. Needless to say, I now refer them to all of our brides!

The Millers Trash The Dress…Lightly

Allison and James are dear friends of ours. We were thrilled to get to spend some quality time with them shooting Allison’s Trash The Dress session. We get a lot of questions from brides about what a Trash the Dress session is and if you actually have to trash your dress. Allison proves that you can come out the other side and box your dress up again afterwards! Some people do choose to actually ruin the dress by rolling around in the dessert or getting up close and personal with the ocean. But for many people, it’s simply going places you wouldn’t or couldn’t go on your wedding day. It’s an opportunity to wear your dress again (as we all know how expensive they can be, why not put it to more use!) and make some fabulous art.

For any of you wondering about the details of the dress – Allison’s very talented sister, Jenna designed this dress just for her. Who knows you better than your very own sister?? This dress was perfect for Allison and such a treat for her to wear again after four and half years of marriage.

James and Allison – Thank you so much for your friendship, your love and your support. We are so blessed by you and we are so excited for what God has planned for your marriage and that we get to be a part of your journey. We love you!

Allison – You are SO incredibly gorgeous! James – you are the best tech guy out there – period!

Lincoln and Leslee: A Rainy Day in NorCal.

A few weeks ago we posted Lincoln and Leslee’s fabulous Redding wedding and we promised that we would post their day after session soon. So here’s the story. At 9am the DAY AFTER their wedding (yeah, we were all a bit crazy) we met for this fun photo session. We had such a fun time at their wedding the day before, we knew we were in for a treat to spend a few more hours with this amazing couple. We can honestly say that they are not only our clients, but have become our friends. They are so kind and so easy going – they are the kinds of people that everyone wants to be friends with.

Now, because we live in Southern California, we weren’t used to the rain that was falling, so we took shelter in the Redding parking garage until the rain slowed. Yes, that was a singular statement. I’m pretty sure it’s the only public parking garage in the entire city (Redding peeps, correct me if I’m wrong). It’s kind of like the Macy’s escalator – it’s the only one in town! Oh how we love Redding!

Lincoln and Leslee, we had such a fun time with you! We loved seeing how madly in love you are and were thrilled that you were open for anything we threw at you! We can’t wait to see you later on this year!

Also – a big CONGRATULATIONS to Amy and Jen. You are the winners of Brett’s portrait giveaway contest! We shot Amy’s wedding in 2009, and Jen is her best friend. They definitely had the most compelling submission and are even traveling down from Northern California for their portrait shoot! A BIG THANKS to everyone who submitted entries to this contest and a special mention to a few that were submitted all the way from Michigan!

Trash the Dress Teaser

We just got home from a very fun afternoon with our great friends James and Allison after shooting their Trash the Dress session in downtown San Diego. We had such a great time that we just had to post a teaser. There were so many great photos, but this was one of the last and kind of stuck out. Can’t wait to share more!

Mark, Cherisse and Baby boy

I think I have mentioned this before, but a part from photographing Engagement sessions and Weddings, Maternity shoots are definitely one of my favorites. It is just such an exciting time in a couple’s life whether it is the first, second, third or fourth baby- the mother is always glowing with beauty and the father is beaming with pride. It is such a pleasure for me to capture these moments for them to look back upon. Brett and I are getting excited about our own Maternity session and look forward to sharing those with you when the time comes, but for today it is all about Mark and Cherisse and the anticipation for their little boy to arrive anytime in the next 4 weeks!!! Mark and Cherisse are dear friends of ours which always makes for an even more fun shoot. It has been so fun for Cherisse and I to be pregnant together and both with little boys, so this was truly a treat for me to do their shoot.

Keith & Sherri – Day After Session

I seriously cannot believe that it is already Thanksgiving. I have sooo much to be thankful for this year. We have had the most amazing Brides and Grooms, made some friends for life, settled into our life here in San Diego and gotten pregnant with our first child. Whew! I can’t believe how fast it has flown by. But thank you to all of you who have made our year so amazing! To all of you Brides and Grooms – it has been our immense pleasure and honor to be apart of your lives, to share with you in your special moments and to give you pictures to remember those moments forever. You have all been a huge blessing to us and we hope to stay in touch and serve you in the future!

Speaking of amazing Brides and Grooms -

I raved about Keith and Sherri in my last post and I will rave about them again in this post – We just can’t get enough of them. I mean look at them! They are beautiful!!!

The very next morning after their wedding they got dressed up the EXACT same as the day before. It was amazing how precise they looked in comparison to their wedding day. They were gorgeous and ready for their shoot at 9AM. It was so much fun and this house that we shot at just had so much to work with not to mention the beautiful morning light. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Here are some of our favorites.

It’s Fall – Senior portrait time!

This will just be a quick post to share with you a couple of awesome Seniors that contacted me to do their portraits. I didn’t grow up in the US during my time in High School, so I never got to have my own Senior portraits done. I find these shoots to be SO much fun. Pretty much like a model shoot and the students always really get into it and have such a great time being themselves. What an amazing time in life – enjoying life now, but anticipating what is coming next, excited for the future and what it holds for them. These two students were a blast.

The first one is Samantha who chose to drive three hours to have me do her Senior portraits in Redding! Three hours! She was adorable and so funny! We had a great time and isn’t she so beautiful??

The second one is Dillon. I did his sister’s portraits last year and this year she tagged along for assistance. This is an awesome family that I have had the pleasure of photographing and going to church with. Dillon is one good looking kid – wouldn’t you say girls? He is a strong football player and just an all around great guy to hang out with.

Thank you Samantha and Dillon for including me in this part of your life. Good luck to you both this year. I am so excited for what is in store for you in the future!

Jeremy and Meghan grace my blog once again!

Ok, so we have a ton of weddings yet to post and yet to be taken as well, so much more of that still to come. In the midst of the weddings, I wanted to post a maternity shoot very dear to my heart. A part from weddings and engagement shoots, maternity shoots are seriously my next favorite type of shoot. I LOVE to capture the joy between the husband and wife of bringing this life into the world, the awe of what is about to happen that will change their lives forever. I love capturing the miracle that God created for us to take part in. It never ceases to amaze me, especially now living it myself!

This is why this particular maternity shoot is dear to my heart – Jeremy and Meghan – our dear friends from Redding who happen to be extremely photogenic. It probably helps that Jeremy is the lead singer of The Myriad and regularly does band photoshoots and Meghan – she was just extremely blessed with beauty and grace. Well… they are now expecting their first child and you can only imagine how beautiful this child will be!!! I was SO excited for this shoot as we had been planning it for months. They definitely wanted a more edgy feel to their shoot, so we experimented and tried some new things. We had so much fun stomping through the tall grass, hanging out in junkyards and pulling a bouquet of red balloons with us wherever we went.

It was quit a bright time during the day, but my time is very limited when up in Redding and this is when we could squeeze it in. I think we made out pretty well. What do you think?

Jeremy and Meghan – we love you so so so very much. We love that our dogs are BFF’s, we love going to Hawaii with you, we love staying with you in Redding, we love being pregnant at the same time with you, we love your support and your friendship. Thank you for all of the good times and hopefully many more to come!

I won’t tell you what made them laugh, but it was hecka funny.

Remember their maternity shoot?

Yes, the Kings had their baby, Sienna Faith King seriously like a week after that shoot. She is a beautiful baby girl full of life and wonder of the world. I love her eyes, so big and bright and curious. Both Angelee and John have settled so beautifully to being parents. Already I have made note of things to learn from them. Sienna is very loved and she is so precious.
