Speaking of Brett’s former job – last week marked his first year anniversary as being a fully self employed photographer with me. It’s been an amazing year working together and sharing the wonderful journeys of our 2011 couples and we are so excited for our 2012 weddings which will kick off this weekend with Nate and Kimber. We’re so excited for this year!

Happy New Year everyone!  I know it has been a long time since we have blogged, so we thought what would be a better way to start the new year than to get back on the blog wagon?!  We had an incredibly busy December where we we slept in our own beds very few nights and thoroughly enjoyed our travels to Redding, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, and Christmas with Brett’s family in Canada. We played in the snow, ate lots of yummy food, I practiced my crocheting (a new hobby I picked up during the holidays) and enjoyed watching North open his presents and play with his uncles. We were definitely ready to come home when it was time and get back to somewhat of a normal routine. And here we are. We have a special treat for you to start of the New Year – Tony and Korrin.

Korrin and Tony live in Las Vegas, but are getting married in San Diego and wanted the classic look of Korrin’s home town. We could not be more excited to capture this wedding as these two are absolutely a blast to hang out with. Talk about a sense of humor! Not to mention they are a very sweet and beautiful couple. Win, win!

This past weekend we had the opportunity to stray a little bit north and visit with friends in Pasadena. We have a soft spot in our hearts for Pasadena as that is where we first met and dated! However this was just brief stop-over on our way to shoot Ryan and Kristal’s wedding in Valencia. While Magic Mountain was right next door to tempt Brett to try to ride roller coasters before shooting the wedding, we opted out and fully enjoyed our time at the wedding. We’ve also been shooting a lot more family and maternity sessions this summer, Emily LOVES to shoot! To experience that and capture those precious moments in life is truly rewarding and so much fun.  That being said, we are currently scheduling family sessions for the fall. Our schedule fills up really fast for these sessions, so if you are interested, email us and we can get you on the calendar! Particularly for our Redding friends – we will be there for 5 days at the end of November and are booking couples and family portraits while we are there. Our time there is limited, so if you are interested, please let us know ASAP.

Today we are sharing with you Brent and Brittany’s engagement session. When you put two people who are engaged to each other in an overgrown field and bring a camera along for the ride, chances are you walk away with some pretty romantic images. Yup, that was definitely the case with Brent and Brittany. Not to mention the fact that Brittany has a fabulous model look. The way the wind was blowing her hair just multiplied the romantic factor. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with these two and could have shot them all day long. Brent and Brittany – thanks for giving us the opportunity to spend a fun evening with you – we can’t wait to celebrate your wedding with you soon!

Today we share with you Dev & Aiko. These two UCSD graduates chose to take their engagement photos at their alma mater. We had never shot there before, but were excited to capture them around some of the cool architecture that is on that campus. We really enjoyed our time with Dev and Aiko as they are two of the sweetest individuals you could meet. Put them together and you’ve got super sweetness, a power not to be reckoned with! Dev & Aiko – we can’t wait for your October wedding!!

Today we are sharing JP and Holly’s engagement session – at which we had a BLAST. These two know how to make each other laugh, which is definitely one of the most important things in marriage to make it strong so JP and Holly are off to a VERY good start. We had so much fun capturing their friendship and genuine adoration for one another. They requested a more rustic shoot for their engagement session. Maybe it’s because Brett grew up in between one town of 400 people, and another of 800 people, and has rustic in his blood, but we were stoked when they asked for this look! So how do you pull of rustic in the middle of urban San Diego? Here’s how. Enjoy!

A couple of weeks ago we got the chance to hang out with Ernesto and Christen in South Park. Yeah, we’ve shot there several times, but we love it there and have fun looking for new hidden places to shoot. We were particularly excited about this shoot as we LOVE shooting friends, coworkers, family, etc of past clients – and Christen just so happens to be a coworker of the lovely Melissa blogged earlier this year. I also need to mention that Christen surprised us at the start of the shoot by announcing that she was quite sick and really not feeling well. But she was dedicated and really wanted to do the shoot that day. Well Christen, not only are you a trooper, but you rocked it girl! There is no sign that you were under the weather in your photos and you just look fantastic and full of joy (which joy and sick don’t go well in our household!). Ernesto and Christen – we had so much fun with you and we can’t wait for your wedding this fall!!!
